SUMMARY:Mushroom Series - Mushroom Cultivation
DESCRIPTION:In this class\, Pete Savoie shares his experience and passion for growing mushroom on logs and totems. Class participants will learn the nuances of mushroom growing and study the manner to which you can incorporate mushrooms into your own backyard. \nPete hails from southern New Hampshire\, and fostered an early love for quality food ingredients while working in Boston’s fine dining industry. In 2010\, he started a culinary mushroom farm on his 10 acre property after finding several wild varieties there; and\, studying under David Wichland of Keene\, NH\, began to supply local farmer’s markets and restaurants with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor cultivated species. Pete relocated to Grass Lake\, MI in 2014\, and with Andrea Ericksen in 2017\, founded Havenswood. \nThis is the final class for the fall series – check back in the spring for more mushroom fun! For more information on Havenswood check out their website at www.havenswood.org \nClasses are $5 for Dahlem members and $7 for non-members. Not a member of the Dahlem Center? Sign up today (www.dahlemcenter.org/become-a-member) and tell them Havenswood sent you! Dahlem members also receive 10% off classes offered at Havenswood! \nSign Up Here!

SUMMARY:Benefit Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Location: Commonwealth Commerce Center\nDate: October 11\, 2018\nTime: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM \nThis annual benefit event is crucial to Dahlem’s success because it raises much-needed unrestricted dollars. This means that this money is used to pay our utilities and salaries\, purchase supplies\, and repair infrastructure. Unrestricted funds are the most difficult to raise because foundations\, corporations and businesses focus on projects\, events or specific programs. Therefore\, for our daily operations\, this event is imperative to the financial health of Dahlem. \nWhat can you expect at this event? This is when Dahlem showcases what we’ve accomplished over the last year\, and share what we have planned for the year ahead. We tell our story and express our heartfelt passion for environmental education and outdoor experiences. \nPlease take a moment to consider being a Table Captain and filling a table with eight guests. If eight is too many\, you are welcome to invite even one or two friends to come along – we have room for everyone! Your time and your guests’ will help make Dahlem stronger and continue its mission of providing environmental education and outdoor experiences to the people of south central Michigan. Please contact us for more information about being a table captain or an event sponsor.
