DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Earth Day with us on April 23rd from 1-4pm at Sparks Foundation County Park. The event will be near the Cascades Amphitheater and the fishing pond. This is a free family event. \nJackson County Conservation District organized and is planning for live music by Kevin Nichols\, ARK Animal Encounters\, family-friendly activities\, Free document shredding\, and more. DESCRIPTION:Dahlem is proud to host the Fairy Garden Contest for the Jackson School of the Arts Fairy Festival! \nBuild an enchanting miniature garden with fantastical elements to share with everyone who attends JSA’s Fairy Festival! \nHere is what you need to know: \n\nMake your garden easy to transport\nBuild your garden on a sturdy base that is 24 inches by 24 inches maximum size\nThere is no access to electricity\, so any powered elements will need to be battery powered\nAll Fairy Festival Guests are invited to vote for their favorite garden with pocket change and the proceeds will go to Jackson School of the Arts for art supplies. One cent is one vote. The garden with the highest total money wins!\nThe Contest winner gets a fun prize!\nWinner will be announced at the end of the day on Sunday\, May 1st\, 2022\nDrop off your garden on Friday\, April 29\, 2022 between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM\nPick up your garden by Friday\, May 6th by 8:00 PM or the garden will become the property of the Dahlem Conservancy. DESCRIPTION:Dates and Times:\nApril 28 Thursday 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm \nApril 29 Friday 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm\nFee per person:  FREE for members\, $5 non-member (free for babies under age 2) \nSpecial Offer: sign up online for a new Family Membership and save 10% off the membership fee. Valid for first time members only. For Returning members\, subscribe to an annual online membership renewal and get 10% off the membership fee for the first year. \nPre-Registration is required to attend our first annual partnership with Jackson School of the Arts: Dahlem’s Fairy Walks Event.  \nEvery 10 minutes a group of 12 people head down the trail to enjoy a springtime eye-spy adventure on a 1/2 mile accessible trail walk lead by fairies and gnomes. The walk will introduce children (and adults!) to some of the habitats our creatures call home. We will wrap up at the pavilion where Fairy Faith from the Albion District Library will lead the children in some fairytale songs and tell a story. The program is about 1/2 hour in length.  Play with bubbles\, photo opportunities\,  and visit the gift shop. It’s great fun for the whole family!! \nREGISTRATION REQUIRED for Dahlem members and non-members\, so don’t wait – choice slots fill fast.  Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour walk to allow time to sign in. We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you don’t call to cancel and don’t show\, you will be charged the full amount.  Dress for the weather! \n\nCome Join the Fairy Court– Volunteers Make it Happen!\nVolunteer opportunities for this great event are available. SUMMARY:Explore the Night Frogs and Toads @ the Dahlem
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n\n\nHop to it – April is all about frogs and toads! Join Dahlem Nature Center and the Ella Sharp Museum for an in-depth exploration of these wetland creatures. First\, meet live examples of Michigan’s frogs and toads\, and experience rarely-seen pieces of wildlife art from the Andrews Wildlife Collection. Then grab your galoshes and join a frog-hunting hike! Participants will learn to identify frog calls and how to safely catch and release live frogs. \n“Explore the Night!” is a collaboration between the Ella Sharp Museum and Dahlem Nature Center. Join us each month for a family-friendly evening program exploring the exhibits\, collections\, and grounds of these Jackson institutions.
