DESCRIPTION:Dahlem is proud to host the Fairy Garden Contest for the Jackson School of the Arts Fairy Festival! \nBuild an enchanting miniature garden with fantastical elements to share with everyone who attends JSA’s Fairy Festival! \nHere is what you need to know: \n\nMake your garden easy to transport\nBuild your garden on a sturdy base that is 24 inches by 24 inches maximum size\nThere is no access to electricity\, so any powered elements will need to be battery powered\nAll Fairy Festival Guests are invited to vote for their favorite garden with pocket change and the proceeds will go to Jackson School of the Arts for art supplies. One cent is one vote. The garden with the highest total money wins!\nThe Contest winner gets a fun prize!\nWinner will be announced at the end of the day on Sunday\, May 1st\, 2022\nDrop off your garden on Friday\, April 29\, 2022 between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM\nPick up your garden by Friday\, May 6th by 8:00 PM or the garden will become the property of the Dahlem Conservancy. If you won\, you can pick up your prize when you pick up your garden.\n\nPlease register below to enter the Fairy Garden Contest!

SUMMARY:Annual Spring Work Bee 2022
DESCRIPTION:It is the perfect time of the year to address any maintenance that is necessary for spring and summer.  This year’s Annual Spring Work Bee is on Saturday May 7th\, 2022 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.\nVolunteers please arrive at 8:45 AM to sign in and complete a Health Screening form (for covid-19). Assignments are given out at the start of the day at 9:00 AM. After the work is done we will have a complimentary Thank You picnic lunch! The staff will provide a lite-lunch and refreshments for all volunteers participating this day!\n** Please complete the form below so we know how many volunteers to anticipate and provide lunch for **\n\nWhat will I be doing at the Work Bee?\nAssignments are given out at the start of the day at 9:00 AM. If you have an interest in something particular\, let us know! Our goal is to utilize a volunteer’s individual strengths as much as possible. Here are some areas we plan to tackle: \n\nClear out invasive plants along the trails\nPlace wood chips on the Natural Playscape and other areas of need\nWeeding around the buildings and flower gardens\nWash windows\, bird feeders\, and outdoor signage\nWash Maple Sugaring equipment\nClean and organize the McLaughlin pole barn\n\nWe welcome you to bring your own personal equipment such as rakes\, garden shears\, loppers\, and other tools that would help assist the process. \nRemember to; dress for the weather\, bring your work gloves and a bottle of water!  Everyone will be working outdoors. Learn how to identify trees in your own backyard\, solve the mystery of a local tree that went to space\, and explore the surprising connections between Ella and Michigan’s forests. Plus\, take part in hands-on activities and demonstrations! \n“Explore the Night!” is a collaboration between the Ella Sharp Museum and Dahlem Nature Center. Join us each month for a family-friendly evening program exploring the exhibits\, collections\, and grounds of these Jackson institutions.
