SUMMARY:Annual Spring Work Bee 2023
DESCRIPTION:It is the perfect time of the year to address any maintenance that is necessary for spring and summer.  This year’s Annual Spring Work Bee is on Saturday May 6th\, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.\nVolunteers please arrive at 8:45 AM to sign in\, meet and greet. Assignments are given out at the start of the day at 9:00 AM. After the work is done we will have a complimentary Thank You picnic lunch! The staff will provide a lite-lunch and refreshments for all volunteers participating this day!\n** Please complete the form below so we know how many volunteers to anticipate and provide lunch for **\n\nWhat will I be doing at the Work Bee?\nAssignments are given out at the start of the day at 9:00 AM. If you have an interest in something particular\, let us know! Our goal is to utilize a volunteer’s individual strengths as much as possible. Here are some areas we plan to tackle: \n\nClear out invasive plants along the trails\nPulling invasive garlic mustard plants (easy to pull by hand)\nPlace wood chips on the Natural Playscape and other areas of need\nWeeding around the buildings and flower gardens\nWash windows\, bird feeders\, and outdoor signage\nWash Maple Sugaring equipment\n\nWe welcome you to bring your own personal equipment such as rakes\, garden shears\, loppers\, and other tools that would help assist the process. \nRemember to; dress for the weather\, bring your work gloves and a bottle of water!  Everyone will be working outdoors. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExplore the Night: Signs of Spring and Virtual Night Sky Tour\n\n\n\n\nLet’s explore and use our night senses! Join Ella Sharp Museum and Dahlem\, Jackson’s Nature Place for a wonderful night under the stars! \nThe nature walk\, led by Dahlem Naturalist Educator\, Carrie Benham\, will explore how plants and animals are preparing for the warmer months ahead of us\, share information about nocturnal animals and the senses they use\, and share how we as humans can better develop our own senses and awareness during the night. \nElla Sharp Museum will be providing a virtual night sky tour by our Planetarium Operator and STEM Educator\, Travis Marlow. We will be observing what the night sky looks like where we are and learning tricks and tools to use to better understand the night sky above us. \nTickets are nonrefundable. In the event of a rainy day\, tickets will be applied to a rescheduled date. If attendees must cancel\, their credit can be applied to other events EXCEPT the Art\, Beer\, and Wine Festival. Recommended for ages 12+. \nProceeds from this program benefit both the Dahlem Center and Ella Sharp Museum.
