Annual Spring Work Bee
Date: May 5th, 2018
Time: 9:00 – 1:00 PM
Spring is here and it’s time to get Dahlem in shape for the busy year ahead! Come on out for our Annual Spring Work Bee where we spruce and tidy up the place. We will be tackling chores such as cleaning out ponds; washing windows, bird feeders, and signage; and removing invasive species like Garlic Mustard. After the hard work is said and done–enjoy a FREE complimentary lunch of hotdogs, snacks, and refreshments.
Q: How to do I get involved?
A: Please take the time to complete the short registration form below. Arrive to Dahlem at 9:00 AM and see a Dahlem staff member for an assignment!
Q: What if I wanted to do something specific like pulling weeds?
A: Go for it! We encourage volunteers to use their individual skills to make a difference. If you’re a great weed-puller, we will assign that or a similar task to you.
Q: Do I need to bring my own equipment?
A: Bringing your personal equipment is not necessary, but definitely encouraged! Dahlem has only one year-round maintenance staff, so we sometimes don’t have enough equipment for everyone. If possible, it would be helpful for volunteers to bring their own items like garden shears, rakes, buckets, work gloves, etc.
Q: Can I bring my kids to the Work Bee?
A: Yes! Assignments are made appropriate to the skill set and age of the child(ren). However, Dahlem staff members are not responsible for the supervision of children at this Work Bee event–they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian AT ALL TIMES.
